Charming Towns & Coastal Escapes Around Houston You’ll Love

Houston is an amazing hub, but one of its best perks is how many unique towns and coastal getaways sit just a short drive away. Whether you’re craving ocean views, historic downtowns, or small-town Texas charm, these nearby destinations are perfect for day trips or weekend adventures. 1. Baytown, TX Baytown is often overlooked, but it really has a quiet charm of its own. It may not have the polish of Sugar Land or The Woodlands, but that’s part of what makes it special. In the last few years, it’s grown into a true hidden gem. Sitting along the Houston Ship Channel, Baytown offers beautiful waterfront views, peaceful nature escapes like the Baytown Nature Center and  Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Center, a lovely library, and a cozy downtown filled with seasonal events, free public art, Umbrella Alley, and fun Christmas celebrations for the whole community. Las Vegas in Bloom: My Garden Romance at Wynn

The Wynn in Vegas is an insanely floral-decorated hotel. Its lobby and the lavishly-designed buffet leave you hungry but not for the food, but rather for the visual aesthetics. The place is a floral oasis on the Strip. It makes you forget you step into another casino hotel. The resort is saturated with vivid colors, larger-than-life flower installations, the extensive contemporary art collection (think artist Jeff Koons and his stainless steel works), and stunning dining spots. And the fairest few of them all is the floral lobby and The Buffet.

The Buffet

When you think of a buffet, you probably think of a convenient place to quickly grab a bite and go about your day. Indulge the food rather than the atmosphere. But at The Buffet, it's definitely the ambience that makes you try the place out. Once inside, you are surrounded on all sides by clay rustic pots, vibrant fruits balls and flower garlands that go on up to the dome-shaped roof. The atmosphere is so relaxing and wonderful – nothing like the busy life on the Strip.

The Wynn's Lobby

The Wynn's lobby is a little magical floral oasis amidst the hectic vibes of the Strip. Flower lovers can savor each moment walking through the hotel's foyer. The world needs more beauty and flowers. The entryway is adorned with suspended flower balls in different vibrant colors and hung at a different height. This place had my head in the clouds or the flower balls, for that matter.

And when muscles in your neck get too stiff from looking up, look down and enjoy the other blooming arrangements. The two floral stunning installations you should see are the floral carousel and hot air balloon. They were constructed using more than 110,000 flowers and weigh 10,000 pounds combined. And the details are show-stopping.
